A foreigner is generally present in the SIS if he/she has been convicted of a criminal offense punishable by at least one year's imprisonment or if there are serious reasons to believe that he/she has committed serious criminal acts.
There are about 1.3 million reports in France within the SIS.

You can consult the Commission Nationale Informatique et Liberté (CNIL) in France by mail to check whether your identity has been the subject of a report in the SIS.
